Analytics & Engineering Case Studies

Solving complex financial and technical problems through automated pipelines and predictive modeling ✦

Active Case Study: Credit Risk & ML Pipeline
POWER BI · ITERATION 1

Personal Finance Dashboard

First project in the data portfolio. Raw transaction data transformed through Power Query, modelled with a Star Schema, and surfaced as an interactive KPI dashboard with live cross-filtering, spend breakdowns, and time-series trends.

PYTHON + POWER BI · ITERATION 2

Financial Health Analysis

Used Python (pandas, numpy) to engineer 2,500+ synthetic transactions. Built a "Red Alert" budget variance system with DAX conditional formatting and resolved geographic mapping drift across Windsor, Toronto, and Detroit.

SQL SERVER + ETL · ITERATION 3

End-to-End Data Pipeline

Full data engineering pipeline — Python ETL injects data into SQL Server via SQLAlchemy and pyodbc, Power BI connects live through ODBC for real-time refresh. Features MoM trend analysis, burn rate tracking, and anomaly detection.

CASE STUDY 01 · FINTECH

Autonomous Credit Risk & Stress Testing Pipeline

The Challenge: Evaluating portfolio resilience against aggressive interest rate hikes.
The Solution: Engineered a Python ETL engine that executes a 500bps macro-stress test on 32,000+ records. Data is dynamically modeled into a SQL Star Schema and injected into MS SQL Server to visualize Expected Loss (EL) and Capital at Risk via Power BI.

Credit Risk & ML Stress Testing

The Evolution: Upgraded the autonomous ETL pipeline from static quantitative logic to Predictive Intelligence.
The Solution: Integrated a Random Forest Classifier via Scikit-Learn to analyze 32,000+ records, shifting the system from rule-based filters to Probability-based Scoring. The V2 pipeline identifies "non-obvious" default patterns and injects results into a SQL Star Schema for high-fidelity Power BI stress testing.

Hi, I'm Joel 👋

🎓 UWindsor — CS + Applied IT Minor
📍 Windsor, ON (originally from Kuwait)
🎯 Graduated April / May 2026

I'm a Computer Science undergraduate at the University of Windsor, originally from Kuwait. I'm passionate about IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and industrial automation — and I love the crossover between security and the physical world (IoT, PLCs, home labs).

Outside of code I'm into sim racing, cooking, video gaming, traveling, and video editing. I listen to a lot of Synthwave, Hip-Hop, and Pop — Eminem, Linkin Park, Kavinsky, Bruno Mars, Lil Baby. Big fan of Sci-Fi and Horror films too.
